The Oscillon Fragmentum Steel Silver Ruthenium Dial combines fully hand-made Swiss watchmaking with a world-first patent-pending Foudroyante complication. Limited to just three examples in stainless steel with ruthenium-coated tapisserie dial, the Fragmentum represents a rare intersection of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary independent haute horlogerie.
Entirely produced within Oscillon’s atelier in Buchs, Switzerland, the Fragmentum is a remarkable demonstration of historical watchmaking techniques executed to modern standards. Every component of the watch, including the case and movement architecture, is manufactured using hand-operated antique machinery without CNC production or industrial automation.
Founded by Dominique Buser and Cyrano Devanthey, Oscillon was born from a shared ambition to revive centuries-old watchmaking processes that have largely disappeared from contemporary horology. After years restoring antique lathes, pantographs and cutting tools, the pair developed the Fragmentum as an uncompromising expression of atelier-level craftsmanship.
This particular configuration pairs the Fragmentum’s classical proportions with a striking silver dial coated in ruthenium and hand-decorated with Oscillon’s signature tapisserie motif. Produced using antique brocading machinery, the dial exhibits exceptional depth and texture while maintaining remarkable restraint and balance across the display.
At six o’clock sits the defining feature of the watch: a patent-pending Foudroyante complication unlike anything previously seen within traditional independent watchmaking. The lightning seconds hand completes one full rotation every second while the underlying seconds disc rotates once per minute, creating a constantly animated and mechanically immersive display.
Visible through the sapphire caseback, the in-house manual winding movement showcases exceptional traditional finishing throughout. German silver bridges, polished jewel sinks, hand-finished bevels and an oversized 11.70mm balance demonstrate the obsessive attention devoted to every component.
Measuring 38mm in stainless steel with a slim 10.45mm profile, the Fragmentum balances elegant wearability with significant horological presence. Only three examples of the steel Silver Ruthenium Dial configuration will be produced as part of the wider 12-piece Fragmentum collection
