An eye-catching piece, featuring both practicality and exceptional execution, the Anton Suhanov Chronotope watch is limited to only 33 pieces. The model carries a 42mm stainless steel case with brushed and polished finishing, topped with a notched bezel which provides a reference for the hours, while a diminutive pusher just below six o‘clock serves as a corrector for the day of the week. Evoking pristine styling and perfect proportions, the brass dial is finished with rhodium and ruthenium coatings, and with sandblasted, bushed and hand polished techniques which add depth to the various elements. Highly original in architecture, the day of the week ring has a retrograde indication highlighting the current day at the inner, while the date window has its own aperture at the upper. Skeltonised and tipped with vibrant pallet rubies, the hours and minutes hands are complemented by a slender seconds hand with a tiny pallet ruby counterweight, with further rubies placed within the cam for the weekday display at the six o’clock. Inside, and beating at a brisk 28’800 vib/h, the Su200.10 movement is based on an ETA 2832-2 extensively re-worked in the Anton Suhanov atelier to include the complex in-house module for the date and an in-house peripheral winding system. Notably, the calibre has a unique fine adjustment module with a rotating wheel mounted on top of the balance cock. The exquisite hand finishing is displayed through an exhibition caseback, where traditional Côtes de Genève and perlage decor contrast with nuances of vibrant blue giving the calibre a firmly contemporary feel.
Winner of the Young Watchmaker’s Award in 2016, Anton Suhanov previously worked as a chief designer in the watch Manufactory of Master Watchmaker, Konstantin Chaykin. Having been recognised for his skills with the Young Watchmaker Award in 2016, he now has an evolving portfolio of pieces since establishing his own eponymous brand.
