Antarctique Passage de Drake – Unique Piece

Created as a unique expression of Czapek’s Antarctique, this one-off Passage de Drake combines elements from two defining chapters of the collection. Its custom-made white dial pairs the distinctive index layout of the earlier Terre Adélie with the three-dimensional “Stairway to Eternity” texture associated with the Passage de Drake. A vivid red central seconds hand introduces a sporting contrast, while the fully brushed integrated stainless-steel bracelet gives this unique configuration a particularly purposeful character.

Housed in Czapek’s 40.5mm stainless-steel case, the Antarctique measures just 10.6mm thick and features the collection’s characteristic double-curved architecture. Sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown and 120 metres of water resistance combine everyday practicality with the refined proportions expected of contemporary haute horlogerie.

Inside is Czapek’s in-house SXH5 automatic calibre, developed specifically for the Antarctique. Its architecture uses seven skeletonised bridges and an off-centre micro-rotor crafted from recycled 950 platinum, leaving the gear train prominently visible through the sapphire caseback. Running at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the 28-jewel, 193-component movement delivers more than 60 hours of power reserve from a single barrel. Finishing includes sandblasted black bridges, bevelling, straight-grained flanks and six hand-chamfered inward angles.

Adding a deeply personal detail, the caseback is engraved with the GPS coordinates of the wreck of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance, a fitting reference to the Antarctic inspiration behind the collection.

Offered as a full set by its original owner, this unique-piece Antarctique presents a configuration created to stand entirely apart from the standard production models.
