Limited to only 50 pieces, the Czapek Faubourg de Cracovie Aventurine chronograph has all the credentials demanded of a contemporary sports timer, with the added sophistication of a beautifully executed glass-like dial. A collection already renowned for its precision high-end chronograph movement, this stunning edition is the first time this Geneva-based independent watchmaking company has introduced an aventurine dial to the Faubourg de Cracovie series.

The model is fitted with a dial crafted from a disc of shimmering aventurine whose unique properties ensure that no two examples will be alike. Adding to the technical challenges of machining the frangible material, Czapek have chosen a tri-part dial construction wherein the counters are individually cut and placed, and the indices are applied rather than transferred, the latter having been considered essential to maintain the sporty dial aesthetic. Exhibiting excellent proportions, the counters at the 3 and 9 o’clock and the small seconds retain excellent readability against the aventurine backdrop and the arrow-tipped hour and minutes hands and appliqués stand out superbly.

Measuring 41.5mm across, the round stainless steel case is mostly polished, with recessed sandblasted inlays around its waist which flow from lug to lug, while on either side of the crown, the sloping chronograph pushers are discretely integrated into the curvature of the case, resulting in a clean, sleek profile. The housing is fitted with a box sapphire crystal whose glass rim raised above the bezel and creates an eye catching ring of refraction around the deep blue aventurine dial below.

Inside, the bespoke Czapek Calibre SXH3 self winding movement is by specialist Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. This state of the art integrated chronograph movement beats at 36’000 vib/h with COSC certified chronometer precision, and delivers a power reserve of 65 hours from its single barrel. Featuring column wheel with vertical clutch and linear hammer which interact seamlessly the chronograph commands are smooth and instantly responsive. A sapphire caseback reveals the complex mechanism beneath the gold rotor and openworked anthracite grey plates.

Presented on an alligator leather strap secured with a steel deployant clasp, the Czapek Faubourg de Cracovie Aventurine is a limited edition of 50 pieces.
