Regarded as one of the defining modern chronographs of haute horlogerie, the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Up/Down combines exceptional mechanical architecture with the restrained elegance characteristic of the Saxon manufacture. Reference 405.035 pairs a 950 platinum case with a black solid-silver dial, creating a distinctive contrast while placing its sophisticated chronograph functions at the forefront.

Measuring 41mm in diameter and 13.1mm in thickness, the platinum case features carefully executed polished and satin-finished surfaces. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the transparent sapphire caseback provides an uninterrupted view of the remarkable manuall ywound movement.

Black solid-silver forms the foundation of the dial, complemented by rhodiumed gold appliqués and hands. A. Lange & Söhne's signature outsize date appears prominently at 12 o'clock, balanced by subsidiary dials for running seconds and the jumping minute chronograph counter. Positioned at 6 o'clock, the UP/DOWN power-reserve indicator provides an intuitive indication of the remaining mainspring energy.

Powering the watch is the manufacture calibre L951.6, a manually wound flyback chronograph movement assembled from 451 individual components. Its column-wheel chronograph mechanism incorporates a precisely jumping minute counter and flyback functionality, allowing an ongoing timing sequence to be instantly reset and restarted with a single operation.

Operating at 18,000 semi-oscillations per hour, the 46-jewel movement delivers approximately 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Traditional Lange finishing is displayed throughout, including untreated German silver plates and bridges, hand-engraved details, polished components and elaborate movement decoration visible through the exhibition caseback.

Completing the watch is a black alligator leather strap secured by a 950 platinum prong buckle.
