F.P. Journe’s Élégante 48 offers an unconventional interpretation of quartz watchmaking, combining an ultra-light Titalyt® case with the manufacture’s ingenious electro-mechanical Calibre 1210. Its distinctive tortue-shaped architecture delivers a contemporary presence while retaining the technical ingenuity associated with François-Paul Journe.
Central to its operation is F.P. Journe’s patented motion-detection system. After approximately 35 minutes without movement, the watch enters standby mode and stops the hands to conserve energy, while its internal timekeeping continues. Once movement is detected, the mechanism automatically reactivates and advances the hands to the correct time.
A translucent white dial features bold black Arabic numerals, a chemin de fer minute track and small seconds. Super-LumiNova construction creates a striking blue luminescence in darkness, further distinguishing the Élégante’s modern aesthetic.
Power comes from the electro-mechanical Calibre 1210, an 18-jewel movement combining electronic precision with mechanical components. Titalyt®, produced through an electro-plasma oxidation treatment of titanium, provides an exceptionally lightweight case with enhanced surface hardness and resistance to wear.
Dating from 2019, this example is presented in like-new condition as a full set with its original box and papers. It is fitted with a rubber strap and matching F.P. Journe deployant clasp and will also be supplied with an additional Tiffany-colour strap, offering a distinctive alternative configuration.
