GAP 1
?>The Benzinger GAP 1 Ice Blue Edition is a collaboration between Jochen Benzinger, Lydia Dalle Nogare, and Peter Petzold, exclusively created for Define Watches. This 39mm manually wound timepiece blends horological artistry with modern design, powered by an in-house movement based on Habring²’s A11 calibre, custom-developed to Benzinger’s specifications.
The hand-guillochéd dial features an electroplated, ice-blue finish with a classic barleycorn motif. Contrasting subdials at 4 and 8 o'clock display the date and small seconds, respectively, with a ray guilloché pattern for added depth. Time is read via off-centre skeletonised, flame-blued hands, with crisp blue Arabic numerals on silver chapter rings. The hours and minutes are shifted slightly toward 12 o’clock to maximise visual balance.
The manually wound calibre beats at 28,800 vph (4Hz), offers a 48-hour power reserve, and incorporates tangential screw fine regulation, a Carl Haas sprung balance, and KIF shock protection. Each movement is hand-engraved, skeletonised, and guillochéd, featuring flame-blued wheels and a bespoke silver ratchet wheel in a snowflake design, visible through the sapphire caseback. It contains 19 jewels and measures 30mm x 5.1mm.
The polished 316L steel case is manufactured in Pforzheim, measuring 39mm in diameter by 11.5mm thick, with sapphire crystals front and back. Notably, the crown is positioned at 2 o’clock, with a protective date pusher at 3 o’clock, and includes 3D JB engraving.
Each Ice Blue Edition includes two straps, grey ostrich leather with light blue stitching and navy suede, paired with a deployment clasp and pin buckle. With only five pieces produced, this rare edition fuses German-Austrian watchmaking tradition with modern refinement, making it a true collector’s piece.
