Hommage Minute Repeater

A contemporary Glashütte masterpiece, the Tutima Hommage Minute Repeater watch is a triumph for this independent watch Manufacture, and a statement of their watchmaking acumen. Limited to only 20 pieces, the Hommage has the distinction of being the first Minute Repeater watch ever to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Glashütte. A beautifully executed and complex timepiece, the model is presented in a resplendent gold casing, and is powered by the in-house Cal. Tutima 800 manual winding mechanical movement.  

Since their founding in 1927, Tutima watches have had an intimate connection with Saxony’s Glashütte, seat of the German watchmaking industry, and the story of the company is one of extraordinary perseverance in the face of economic challenges and the disruption and devastation brought by the ravages of war. Today the company whose name in its Latin version ‘Tutus’ means ‘secure’ are safely back in Glashütte, having opened a state-of-the-art facility in 2008 close to their original factory, where development of their own in-house calibres and precision modules continues in the innovative spirit which is at the heart of the brand.

A watch crafted to celebrate Glashütte watchmaking, hence the German spelling of its title, the Tutima Hommage Minute Repeater watch is housed within an 18ct rose gold case, sized at 43mm, with a height of 13.4mm. Its rounded form is enhanced with a polished finish, and it is fitted with a fluted crown protected by a sleek guard, with a curving slider for the minute repeater mechanism on the opposite side of the case.

The epitome of understated refinement, the indications are beautifully arranged, upon a silver surface. The golden hour and minutes hands are complemented by applied gold numerals, and a traditional railtrack scale at the perimeter. At six o’clock a subdial displays the small seconds via an elegant needle-like golden hand, on a scale rendered in black.

Viewable through the sapphire crystal caseback, the Tutima Manufacture Calibre 800 has been conceived from the ground up at the company’s atelier.  Comprising of 550 movement parts, it integrates an incredibly tiny mechanism for the repeater, enabling it to strike the hours, quarter hours and minutes on two gongs. Arranged with a traditional three-quarter plate architecture, and displaying the refinement of hand finishing, the calibre beats at 21’600 vib/h and has a power reserve of 65 hours when fully wound. In addition to the hand bevelling and tin-polished surfaces, both the balance cock and the barrel cover of the striking mechanism are decorated with relief engraving.
