Characterised by exquisite craftsmanship and technical sophistication, the Haute-Rive Honoris 1 Lagoverde watch is crafted as an ode to the depths and beauty of the waters of Lake Neuchâtel. Limited to only 8 pieces, the Métiers dart dial of each piece is crafted individually using the traditional technique of Grand Feu enamel, with layer upon layer of translucent green enamel applied over a hand-engraved surface resulting in a stunning artwork that recalls the light reflecting on the undulations of the lake. The artisanal aesthetic of the dial is complemented by the remarkable mechanical credentials of the model, which is powered by the HR01 manual winding calibre running at 21’600 vib/h, with an astonishing 1,000 hours of power reserve enabled by a single barrel.

The three-dimensional aspect of the dial side displays the large skeletonised spoke wheel, toothed at its outer edge which slowly transfers the power stored in the mainspring under the dial to the exposed gears, which in turn drive the white gold hour and minutes hands. The polished screwed stem of the crown is also exposed in a cutaway channel, connecting the crown to the setting mechanism, while at the six o’clock position the flying tourbillon seems to float as it rotates serenely in a sixty second cycle. On the underside, a full width reserve de march display employs a satin brushed ring with black numerals moving around past a static red triangle to indicated the state of power reserve remaining. Presented in a 42.5mm 18ct white gold case, featuring a chrono-style pusher at the two o’clock for time setting via the crown, this is an exceptional example featuring profound technical innovation and stunning craftsmanship.

Review

A piece that pushes the accepted parameters of autonomy into completely new territory, the Haute-Rive Honoris 1 is a technical triumph for Stéphane von Gunten. And, while the mechanical demands of this extraordinary attribute mean that almost every element of this profound watch is designed and engineered around accommodating
