Old Soul by Vianney Halter and Massena LAB

Old Soul by Vianney Halter and Massena LAB is a highly distinctive independent timepiece that brings together Vianney Halter’s steampunk design language with Massena LAB’s deep appreciation for vintage horology. Limited to just 47 pieces, the watch is powered by a vintage Minerva 17’22 manual-winding calibre, originally developed in the 1920s and used in pocket watches until 1942. The movement has been reimagined for this project and modified to incorporate a mysterious minutes display, using a transparent rotating disc to create the illusion of a floating minute hand.

The regulator-style display separates the time indications across the dial, with hours at 3 o’clock, seconds at 9 o’clock and minutes shown around the outer chapter ring. Its three-dimensional, multilayered dial is further enhanced by Arabic numerals in Vianney Halter’s signature typeface, railroad minute tracks and a studded stainless steel shield positioned above the sapphire crystal. The 42 mm stainless steel case measures 12 mm thick and features a polished concave bezel, stepped lugs, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, exhibition caseback and 30 metres of water resistance. The Minerva calibre runs at 18,000 vibrations per hour, with 17 jewels and an approximate 36-hour power reserve.

This example is pre-owned in mint condition and comes complete with box, papers and warranty dated March 2026. It was also entered into the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2026, further underlining its significance within contemporary independent watchmaking.
