Limited to only 5 pieces, the Onyx watch by HerzWerk showcases the mechanisms of its in-house movement within a partially openworked dial setting of magnificent hand-guilloché. A superior example of an atelier crafted piece by watchmaker Martin Honermann, the dramatic effect of the guilloché pattern on the dial plate is enhanced by its deep black ruthenium finish, adding a mesmerising aspect to the arrangement, where the balance wheel mechanism is revealed, and this is further complemented by a view of the 22ct gold wheels on the dial side. Skeletonised hands and slender roman numerals grace the sapphire hours and minutes dial at the upper dial, displaying resplendent gold components and exquisite perlage finishing beneath. On the lower dial, a generous decentralised seconds indication overlaps with the hours and minutes dial, while a gleaming white gold frame defines each element.

Manufactured in-house, the case is titanium and is distinctive for its delightful pearl drop profile. Wearing at a height of only 9.5mm it has an elegant presence on the wrist and its fitted with a domed sapphire on the front, and a sapphire crystal caseback.

Featuring a significant level of hand finishing and detailing, the in-house manual winding movement beats at a rate of 21’600 vib/h, with a power reserve of 54 hours when fully hand wound. Notably, the movement features the maker’s own patented winding system. On turning the piece over, one can appreciate the immaculate refinement of the movement, and while the has a contemporary aesthetic, meticulously rendered traditional hand finishing elevates the prestige of the movement.

Limited to only 5 pieces, each Onyx watch is individually crafted in the HerzWerk atelier, and the maker offers the option of bespoke finishing at the time of ordering, and the watch is also available with the option of a single hour strike, ensuring exclusivity to the client. An excellent find for the connoisseur of fine hand-crafted horology, the model is available with either a titanium case.
