QTY :

Styled to capture the motion of the Earth and Jupiter around the sun, the Raketa Copernicus 0230 watch has a stunning dial arrangement that is instantly immersive. A beautifully designed and constructed timepiece, this edition comes presented in a stainless steel casing and is powered by a precision in-house automatic mechanical movement.

Established in 1721, in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, the massive production facility which today is known as the Raketa Manufacture is the oldest factory in the country. With a name that translates as ‘Rocket’, Raketa have experienced a stellar rise in popularity with watch collectors around the world, who have discovered the unique collections of this exciting independent maker. Inspired by Copernicus’ theory of the Universe, the Raketa Copernicus 0230 watch perfectly represents the movement of our Earth and that of Jupiter around the sun.

Beneath a domed sapphire crystal, upon a deep blue dial, Raketa have designed a simple, yet ingenious method of replicating the motion of our Earth and of Jupiter around the sun, which is represented by a white disc.

As the Earth circles the sun once per year, and as Jupiter makes the same passage once every 12 years, or twelve times slower than our Earth, this translates beautifully on to the dial of the Copernicus, with the minutes hand for the Earth circling the dial once every hour and the hour hand for Jupiter circling the dial once every 12 hours, thus representing the relationship of the passage of both planets.

Beautifully arranged, the minutes hand is a large openworked silver ring, with the hour hand taking the form of a disc which is rendered in a warm coppery tone. Each disc is tipped with a red marker, and complementing the two, the seconds are indicated via a vivid red hand. Finishing this captivating dial, elegant hour markers emanate from the sun like slender sunbeams.

The watch resides in a stainless steel case, sized at 40.5mm diameter with a height of 16.55mm. Beating within, the in-house Raketa Calibre 2615 runs at 18’000 vib/h and has a power reserve of 40 hours, with the balance of the calibre viewable through an aperture in the caseback.
