Sơn Mài – Frosted Leaf “Royal Blue”

The AWAKE Sơn Mài – Frosted Leaf “Royal Blue” is a limited edition of 200 pieces that combines traditional Vietnamese Sơn Mài lacquer artistry with contemporary Swiss watchmaking. Housed in a newly developed 38mm stainless-steel case measuring 44.75mm lug-to-lug and 11.5mm thick, the watch features a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown, and 100 metres of water resistance. Its defining element is the handcrafted dial, created using an intricate “mille-feuille” construction of successive layers of natural lacquer, pure gold leaf, and blue pigments.

Produced entirely by hand and requiring approximately 15 hours of work per dial, the Frosted (Glacis) technique creates exceptional depth, texture, and light play, making each dial unique. Powering the watch is the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement, offering a 68-hour power reserve and fitted with a custom tungsten rotor finished with polished, brushed, and micro-blasted surfaces. The watch is completed with a Jean Rousseau blue ...Alcantara strap featuring a rubberised calfskin lining and AWAKE's Fitwell M1 micro-adjustable pin buckle, delivering both comfort and refinement. Through its combination of pure gold leaf, ancestral lacquer craftsmanship, modern case architecture, and a robust Swiss automatic calibre, the Royal Blue represents one of AWAKE's most ambitious Métiers d'Art creations to date.
