Ricky Hong
Ricky Hong is an 18-year-old independent watchmaking talent from Hong Kong whose passion began at 13 after becoming fascinated by the mechanics of a vintage chronograph. He first built his skills by modifying and selling customised Casio G-Shock “CasiOak” watches, before quickly moving into more advanced horology.
By 15, Ricky had trained through masterclasses with a Richard Mille-trained watchmaker, learned from a Hong Kong tourbillon specialist, and studied AutoCAD and CNC machining to design and manufacture his own components. This led to his first in-house skeleton tourbillon, featuring gold bridges and engraved Chinese characters honouring his family legacy.
His achievements earned early industry recognition, including media attention and an invitation to join the GPHG Academy at just 15. At 18, he launched the “18in18”, an eighteen-piece limited edition watch with a porcelain enamel dial and a hand-finished movement. His ambition is to build a sustainable brand and place Hong Kong on the haute horlogerie map.
