Gagà Laboratorio Labormatic Azzurro

Gagà Laboratorio timepieces are a wonderful infusion of the talents of Ruben Tomella, who is renowned for his style finesse and entrepreneurial acumen, and Mo Coppoletta who is acclaimed for his creativity. Capturing the exuberance of Italian styling from the 1950s, together with styling codes of Americana from that era, the beautifully executed Labormatic models feature curved profiles, exceptional detailing and a distinctive blend of analogue and digital time indications.

The Labormatic Azzurro watch carries a stainless steel case sized at 42mm, with a height of 13.30mm. A complex construction, it comprises of seven parts, and is fitted with a double curved sapphire crystal. The sides rise to embrace a rounded bezel which remains wonderfully uncluttered due to the positioning of the crown which is located at the 12 o’clock position. Stepped and flared, the lugs give the housing a distinctive wrist presence, while also hugging the wrist at the perfect ergonomic angle.

Beneath the curved sapphire crystal the dial has an endlessly fascinating arrangement, with a central disc for the seconds, and an aperture for the digital hours and analog minutes at the upper. Rendered with a pastel blue tone that gives it aesthetic elegance, the dial arrangement evokes clean styling, with the company branding at the centre, and four individual quadrants adding interest and depth. Inside, the automatic LJP-G100 calibre by prestigious movement Manufacture La Joux-Perret beats at a rate of 28800 vib/h. Revealed through a sapphire crystal section on the caseback, one can appreciate the custom rotor which enables a power reserve of 68 hours.

A superb example of contemporary independent watchmaking that is brimming with originality, the Labormatic Azzurro watch by Gagà Laboratorio wears on a hand made Saffiano leather strap.
