Featuring a spectacular display of the relationship between the orbit of the Earth and the Moon, the Apolar watch by independent watchmaking company Behrens is released in a limited edition of only 88 pieces. Nominated for the prestigious GPHG awards in 2020, the model enables a visually stunning showcase of the motion of our Earth and the Moon, with their relative positions displayed with astounding precision. At the heart of the unique display is a proprietary “Earth-Moon” module by Behrens wherein a spherical Earth globe at the upper dial rotates once every 24 hours, accompanied by a smaller Moon sphere attached to a rotating ring on the outer dial that completes one revolution in exactly 27.32 days to represent one complete phase of the Moon. The time in hours and minutes is displayed on a pair of decentralised discs at the lower dial, with a central seconds with a double-headed hand and the dial surface of crystallised titanium gives the watch additional aesthetic drama. The model is presented in a 42mm stainless steel case, with box sapphire crystal, and is powered by an automatic Sellita SW200-1 movement with in-house module for the time and earth-moon displays.
