Limited to only 100 pieces, the Quai Des Bergues Sapphire Blue S watch by Czapek is characterised by meticulous finishing and assembly throughout. Elegant yet contemporary, the watch has a magnificent hand-crafted flinqué enamel dial in an arresting shade of vivid blue and this superb edition also enjoys the advantage of the company’s acclaimed proprietary SHX1 manual wind calibre.

A prestigious and historically significant marque in watchmaking, the name Czapek was re-awakened in 2015 and since then, their timepieces have become an excellent find for aficionados of contemporary watchmaking.

The Czapek Quai Des Bergues Sapphire Blue S watch carries a polished stainless steel case measuring 38.5mm across. It is a refined housing, with a rounded body, sculpted recesses around its waist and gently curving lugs.

Beneath the curved sapphire crystal, the richly textured dial features central hour and minutes hands which are available in either Fleur-de-Lys or arrow-shaped forms, and slender Roman numerals. A recessed subdial for the small seconds at the 7.30 is accompanied by the signature Czapek joint seven day power reserve and weekday indication at the 4.30 position.

Highly contemporary, yet supremely elegant, the dial surface is immediately arresting and is achieved using Czapek’s exclusive ‘Ricochet’ guilloché pattern, rendered in a three dimensional stamped flinqué finish, which is then meticulously applied with moiré enamel, before the firing process can begin with multiple steps required to achieve the exact tone required. The result of this fastidious craftsmanship is an intricate interplay of overlapping circles, which ripple and fan out from around the two recessed subdials creating a hypnotic effect.

Inside the watch, the superb SXH1 proprietary calibre affirms the commitment of Czapek to movement development and high-end finishing. Openworked bridges on the gear train lend it an airy character, while meticulous sandblasting, bevelling, hand-chamfering, and circular and snailed finishing techniques add character and prestige. Beating at 21’600 vib/h the movement has a 7 day reserve of power when fully hand wound.
