GOS SAREK SUNSET

The GoS Sarek Sunset watch breaks new ground for acclaimed Independent Watchmaking company, Gustafsson and Sjögren.  For this piece, the characteristic metallic-hued dials which are synonymous with their portfolio are replaced by an unexpectedly natural, yet equally stunning façade. Styled to capture the wild environment of their Swedish landscape, the piece boasts exclusive originality and meticulous craftsmanship.

Known throughout the world for their supremely crafted watches, GoS takes its name from Master Bladesmith, Johan Gustafsson and Master Watchmaker, Patrik Sjögren.  When merged, the diverse skills of these two individuals engender an impressive collection of timepieces aimed at the discerning collector.

The Sarek series takes inspiration from the wild beauty of Sweden’s Sarek National Park, a place where nature rules supreme.  This exquisite GoS Sarek Sunset watch recalls the spectacular colours which enliven the evening skies over the land where Viking Kings once roamed.

The piece displays an exquisite mother-of-pearl dial which evokes a warm shade pink.  Shunning all but the features essential for time-indication, the designers have allowed the quiet beauty of the material to dominate.

Inspired by historical weaponry, the spear-shaped hour and minutes hands emanate from the centre, joined by an elongated seconds hand.  In unision, they stretch out to an index ring styled to recall the design of ancient Viking jewellery. There is a complex multi-level architecture to the hand-crafted ring and in place of numerals, semi-circular perforations and notches serve as hour markers.  Framing this splendid hand-crafted dial, the textured pattern of the Damascus steel bezel adds a dramatic twist.

But, that is not where the drama ends. Warm pink Super-LumiNova® applied to the underside of the dial shines through the translucent mother-of-pearl.  This pioneering technique ensures a dial of matchless originality with the exquisite refinement of a gentle shade of rosy pink by day and hypnotic luminescence after dark.

The piece carries a 43mm stainless steel case with a domed sapphire crystal. The crown which has a high-polished finish is engraved with the GoS branding.  And, accentuating the rounded profile of the case, elliptical grooves on its sides add texture and interest.

On the rear side, a sapphire section in the caseback reveals the Soprod A10 automatic movement.  Here one can admire the GoS Triskele rotor and the additional hand-finished German Silver counterweight engraved with the script,“Sunset”. Declaring the hand-crafted originality of the Damascus steel forging process and the natural beauty of the dials, each model is engraved with “Sarek 1/1” in addition to the serial number, denoting its exclusivity.

The GoS Sarek Sunset watch comes presented on a hand-crafted moose leather strap fitted with a stainless steel deployant clasp featuring the GoS logo.
