Rotary

Inspired by the arrangement of the iconic rotary engine, the Rotary watch by independent watchmaking company Behrens is characterised by innovation and uniqueness. Using a similar twin rotor system to the Rotary engine, the hours and minutes are indicated by revolving rotors giving animation to the three dimensional dial, with the arrangement further enhanced by skeletonisation to reveal the mechanisms beneath, and by luminescence after dark. Time telling is instantly intuitive, with arc shaped scales for the minutes on the right side, and the hours on the left, while a date window is positioned at the 9 o’clock. The model is presented in a 43mm stainless steel case, fitted with a pronounced domed sapphire crystal that perfectly showcases the dial side, and with a rear sapphire crystal that displays the architecture of the Sellita SW200 automatic calibre that incorporates an in-house module for the unconventional time indications. This exceptional piece, which received a nomination for the GPHG ‘Challenge” category at the 2020 awards, wears on a Cordura strap with quick change release.
