CVSTOS CHALLENGE CHRONO II BLUE STEEL RED GOLD

Characterised by a superb blend of blue steel and red gold of 5N purity, the Cvstos Challenge Chrono II Blue Steel Red Gold model exhibits contemporary styling and a luxurious aesthetic.  Housed within the brand’s distinctive tonneau case-form, the model has an impressive, yet elegant wrist presence.

While confident styling is a prominent feature of all Cvstos watches, every timepiece in the portfolio of this relatively youthful Independent Watchmaking company is crafted with a respective nod to Swiss watchmaking traditions.  By merging their individual skills, CEO Sassoun Sirmakes and chief designer Antonio Terranova have engendered a series of exciting collections which display technical supremacy and meticulous craftsmanship.

The Cvstos Challenge Chrono II Blue Steel Red Gold model carries a case sized at 53.7mm x 41mm.  For this edition, a stunning shade of deep blue enhances the curved profile of the case, while red gold elements on the pushers, the polished crown and on the visible bezel screws add contrast.

While the piece is styled to offer the wearer optimal readability, this impressive sports timekeeper also demonstrates the company’s passion for Haute Horlogerie finishing and cutting-edge mechanical prowess.

Beneath the sapphire crystal, the dial itself has been crafted from anti-glare sapphire in order showcase the micro-mechanical components at work.  Arranged vertically, the 30-minute and 12-hour counters take up position at the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock locations. A smaller counter for the seconds is located at the 9 o’clock, while a Tachymeter scale frames the flange.

Adhering to the paired-back dial aesthetic synonymous with Cvstos timepieces, each indication is reduced to its essentia so that nothing obscures the intimate glimpse of the technical components.  The counters and power reserve have been skeletonised so that only their rims remain, and the hour and minutes hands have been meticulously open-worked.  Beneath them, one can discern the shadow of the date disc as each numeral waits in turn to appear in the aperture at the 3 o’clock location.

There is an extraordinary depth and beauty to be found in the architecture of this multi-facetted dial. And, although the overall feel of the piece is of supreme elegance, thanks to the juxtaposition of the polished red gold elements against a background of the deepest blue, the three-dimensional characteristic of the façade underpins Cvstos’ enthusiasm for avant-garde design.

The piece is equipped with the CVSTOS 577 automatic chronograph calibre.  Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it retains a power reserve of 42 hours.  Visible through the caseback sapphire, the wearer can appreciate the plain beauty of its industrial architecture and the Cvstos bimetallic Tungsten 88 and Titanium Grade 5 rotor.

The Cvstos Challenge Chrono II Blue Steel Red Gold model comes presented on a blue Nitril rubber strap with red gold 5N décor folding clasp.
