Technically masterful in every possible way, this exclusive 10 piece edition which has been crafted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of HYT, brings to its wearer the brand’s acclaimed fluidic retrograde hour display within a three-dimensional setting featuring a moonphase which instantly demands attention. Not limited to the exceptional architecture of its façade, the piece offers incredible illumination after dark, giving its wearer an unparalleled wristwatch experience.

Known for their use of cutting-edge materials, for this edition HYT have manufactured a case using a blend of hydrocarbon, a carbon composite, and TecLight, a luminescent hybrid ceramic. Measuring 48mm across, 52.3mm end to end and with a height of 21.8mm, the housing is of a highly complex sandwich-style construction comprising of 64 parts and with unexpected angles, sculpted sections and recesses, its modernistic profile is befitting to the overall character of the piece and to HYT’s contemporary style ethos. Finished with a black coated titanium crown, the case is sealed to withstand 50m of water resistance.

Beneath the domed sapphire crystal, the central three-dimensional moon phase which dominates the dial is immediately arresting. Representing the two hemispheres, it is rendered in white and black and as it orbits within its position, a v-shaped indicator arcs over it, capturing the current position of the moon with its petite open-worked circular indicator. Around it, one can read off the date, via the indicator at the 6 o’clock position, with the day of the month and the months rendered upon a pair of beautifully executed matte black discs. Set deeper within the dial, a triangular indicator serves to indicate the minutes, which are scripted in double digits, and with luminous material coated upon each indication, including the central three-dimensional moon, readability is enhanced in low light conditions and after dark, the effect of the illumination is nothing less than astounding.

Placed at the perimeter, the arabic numerals for the hours are applied onto a backdrop of openworked matte black titanium thus adding a further technical aspect to the dial. Just within this textured section, HYT have placed their signature feature, their astonishing retrograde fluidic hour display, where the meeting point of two immiscible fluids; one black the other entirely invisible, creates a clearly defined leading edge which indicates the hour. Thanks to their individual properties the fluids will never merge, as they are forced through the tiny glass capillary tube by a pair of hydraulic bellows, just visible beneath the discs at the 6 o’clock position.

On the underside, a sapphire caseback reveals the exemplary satin and sandblasted finishing of the proprietary manual wound Calibre 601-MO, which beats at 28’800 vib/h and has a power reserve of 72 hours.
