The Sarpaneva Stardust Pluto is a contemporary independent watch inspired by the cold beauty and isolation of the solar system’s most distant planet. Limited to just 20 pieces worldwide, it combines Stepan Sarpaneva’s unmistakable Korona case with a striking silvered multi-layer dial, vibrant multi-colour Super-LumiNova and a modified Chronode automatic movement. Beautifully finished and instantly recognisable, the Stardust Pluto represents the next chapter in Sarpaneva’s cosmic design language

QTY :

The Sarpaneva Stardust Pluto proves that sometimes the quietest designs leave the strongest impression.

Created by Finnish independent watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva, the Pluto is the cool counterpart to the fiery Stardust Mars. Where Mars draws inspiration from warmth and oxidised terrain, Pluto embraces distance, silence and frozen landscapes, resulting in one of the most refined creations to emerge from the Helsinki manufacture.

Limited to just 20 examples, the Stardust Pluto retains every hallmark of the Sarpaneva design language while introducing a distinctly cooler aesthetic.

Its 42mm Korona case is crafted from Finnish Outokumpu Supra 316L/4435 stainless steel, combining brushed and polished surfaces that highlight the sculptural architecture of the case. The signature scalloped bezel, screw-down crown at four o'clock and engraved moon-face motif remain unmistakably Sarpaneva, while the compact 10.4mm profile ensures exceptional comfort on the wrist.

The dial is where the Pluto establishes its own identity.

Constructed from four individually finished stainless steel components, the layered architecture creates impressive depth and shadow. A silvered matte base dial evokes frozen planetary surfaces, while the open-worked DLC-coated lattice above allows light to move through the dial, constantly changing its appearance from different viewing angles.

The result is clean, modern and unmistakably architectural.

Large stencil-style hour numerals appear suspended above the dial, while distinctive two-tone blue hands provide an elegant contrast against the monochromatic backdrop. Between nine and eleven o'clock sits a decentralised small seconds display, indicated by Sarpaneva's playful spaceship-shaped seconds pointer, reinforcing the collection's celestial inspiration.

Darkness transforms the watch entirely.

Four different colours of Swiss Super-LumiNova illuminate the dial, bringing the layered construction vividly to life. The blue hour and minute hands glow brilliantly alongside luminous hour markers and contrasting coloured accents, creating exceptional legibility while reinforcing the watch's cosmic personality. Rather than overwhelming the design, the luminous treatment enhances its remarkable sense of depth.

Turning the watch over reveals the mechanical heart beneath.

Visible through the sapphire display back is the modified Chronode P1003 automatic calibre, finished in matte rhodium plating and fitted with Sarpaneva's signature Moonface oscillating weight. The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers approximately 60 hours of power reserve, combining proven Swiss engineering with Sarpaneva's unmistakable finishing and attention to detail. The bespoke rotor runs on ceramic ball bearings, ensuring smooth and efficient winding performance.

Collectors may choose between a handmade Sarpaneva leather strap or the optional Moonbridge stainless steel bracelet, allowing the watch to adopt either a more traditional or contemporary appearance. Production is strictly limited to 20 examples, ensuring genuine exclusivity.

The Stardust Pluto perfectly demonstrates that independent watchmaking does not always need to shout. Its restrained palette, sophisticated construction and exceptional finishing create a watch that rewards close inspection, offering originality without excess and craftsmanship without compromise.
