Inspired by the instruments and functional design of vintage military aircraft, the Graham Fortress GMT B&B Limited Edition combines traditional aviation aesthetics with a distinctive approach to displaying multiple time zones. Produced in a limited edition of just 100 pieces, reference 2FOBC.C01A stands out through its unusual blue and brown dial, robust stainless‑steel construction and patented GMT adjustment mechanism.
Housed within a 44mm stainless‑steel case, the Fortress GMT features vertically brushed lugs with polished chamfered edges, creating a refined contrast between its utilitarian character and contemporary finishing. A domed sapphire crystal with anti‑reflective treatment on both sides protects the dial, while a sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the automatic movement. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, providing practicality for everyday wear.
Its distinctive blue and brown varnished dial draws inspiration from an aircraft’s artificial horizon indicator, an essential cockpit instrument used to display an aircraft’s orientation relative to the horizon. Two contrasting sections create visual depth, complemented by Arabic numerals treated with Grade A Super‑LumiNova. Matching luminous hour and minute hands ensure excellent readability in low‑light conditions.
One of the watch’s defining features is its innovative GMT adjustment system. Unlike conventional dual‑time watches, the Fortress GMT incorporates a patented mechanism allowing the local hour hand to be advanced in one‑hour increments using a dedicated pusher positioned on the left side of the case. This arrangement enables convenient time‑zone adjustments without repeatedly manipulating the crown. A unidirectional rotating bezel combines stainless steel with black zirconium oxide ceramic and features a 24‑hour GMT scale. Its 24‑position construction allows the wearer to track an additional time zone, making the watch particularly suitable for frequent travellers.
Powering the Fortress GMT is Graham’s G1725 automatic calibre, a Swiss mechanical movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Equipped with 26 jewels and an Incabloc shock‑protection system, the movement provides approximately 42 hours of power reserve. Chronofiable certification further reflects its resistance to mechanical shocks and demanding everyday conditions.
Completing the watch is a black pilot‑style calf leather strap secured by a stainless‑steel pin buckle. With its distinctive aviation‑inspired dial, practical GMT functionality and limited production of only 100 examples, the Graham Fortress GMT B&B offers an appealing combination of mechanical ingenuity, vintage character and contemporary Swiss watchmaking.
