Drawing inspiration from the functional instruments and distinctive aesthetics of vintage military aircraft, the Graham Fortress GMT Green combines traditional aviation design with contemporary Swiss watchmaking.
Drawing inspiration from the functional instruments and distinctive aesthetics of vintage military aircraft, the Graham Fortress GMT Green combines traditional aviation design with contemporary Swiss watchmaking. Reference 2FOBC.G01A presents a striking green dial, robust stainless‑steel construction and an innovative GMT complication designed for travellers who appreciate both mechanical ingenuity and everyday practicality.
Housed within a 44mm stainless‑steel case, the Fortress GMT features a satin‑brushed finish, vertically brushed lugs and polished chamfered edges. These contrasting surfaces emphasise the watch's purposeful architecture while introducing a refined contemporary character. A domed sapphire crystal with anti‑reflective treatment on both sides protects the dial, while a sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the mechanical movement beneath. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, ensuring versatility beyond its aviation‑inspired origins.
Its distinctive green dial features two contrasting textures inspired by an aircraft's artificial horizon indicator, an essential cockpit instrument used to determine an aircraft's orientation relative to the horizon. A grained upper section contrasts with a ridged lower section, creating visual depth and reinforcing the collection's aeronautical identity. Hand‑applied Arabic numerals feature Grade A Super‑LumiNova, complemented by luminous hour and minute hands for excellent legibility in varying lighting conditions.
One of the Fortress GMT's defining technical features is its patented hour‑adjustment mechanism. Positioned on the left side of the case, a dedicated pusher allows the hour hand to advance independently in one‑hour increments, making adjustments between time zones particularly convenient. This practical system eliminates the need to repeatedly manipulate the crown when travelling. A separate GMT hand displays a second time zone on a 24‑hour scale, while the unidirectional rotating bezel provides additional flexibility for tracking time across different locations. Constructed from stainless steel and black zirconium oxide ceramic, the bezel features 24 distinct positions and decorative lateral helical toothing.
Powering the Fortress GMT Green is Graham's G1725 automatic calibre, a Swiss mechanical movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Equipped with 26 jewels and an Incabloc shock‑protection system, the movement provides approximately 42 hours of power reserve. Chronofiable certification further demonstrates its resistance to mechanical shocks and demanding everyday conditions.
Completing the watch is a hand‑sewn green calf leather strap, carefully selected to complement the dial and secured by a stainless‑steel pin buckle. Combining distinctive military aviation influences, practical dual‑time functionality and robust Swiss mechanical engineering, the Graham Fortress GMT Green offers a compelling interpretation of the modern pilot's watch, balancing technical sophistication with an unmistakable visual identity.
