Roger Dubuis Excalibur 42 Automatic Jewellery

Roger Dubuis Excalibur 42 Automatic Jewellery

It’s quite easy to overlook the fact that Roger Dubuis is a relative newcomer to the watch manufacturing arena, having made their debut as recently as 1995. Established by Mr Roger Dubuis, a master watchmaker of rare distinction with a natural flair for horology’s most complex challenges and a penchant for skeletonisation, these traits would in time define his watches and indeed his brand.

Acquired by the Richemont Group in 2008, the Roger Dubuis name has been sympathetically nurtured by its new owners and today the watches which bear his name remain true to the philosophies first established when he founded his company.
The exclusive Roger Dubuis Excalibur 42 Automatic Jewellery 188 piece limited edition adds a new, opulent character to the flagship Excalibur collection. Featuring a liberal coating of diamonds, which add drama to its masculine architecture, this timepiece cannot fail to impress.

This model retains the styling codes of previous Excalibur timepieces, but it is the meticulous work of the gem-setter which instantly commands attention.

The dial of this remarkable piece has been endowed with a full pavé coating of diamonds consisting of rows, each beautifully set so that they circumnavigate the dial. Between each precious stone, a mere glimpse of the pink gold beneath can be seen.
At 9 o’clock, the small seconds dial is accentuated by a polished pink gold rim. This section has also been paved with diamonds, but in accordance with its diminutive proportion, here, smaller stones have been selected and arranged.
On the bezel, additional stones have been set in rows of three, between each distinctive notch. And, in a final flourish, more brilliant diamonds follow the flowing architecture of the lugs.

In contrast to the sumptuous combination of pink gold and diamonds, on the dial the company’s signature Roman numerals appear to be bolder than ever before, as they stretch towards the centre. Faceted pink gold hands for the hours, minutes and seconds complete this superbly exuberant watch face.

Beneath the lavish exterior, high-jewellery gives way to high-end watchmaking, and inside the 42mm pink gold case of this model beats the in-house Manufacture Automatic RD620 Calibre, comprising of 184 individually hand finished components. In addition to its noteworthy craftsmanship, the movement also features the company’s technically efficient micro rotor, which enables a power reserve of 52 hours.

The Excalibur 42 Automatic Jewellery model has been crafted to the standards demanded from the strict criteria of the Poincon de Genève, so enthusiasts of fine watchmaking can be in no doubt that it is a superior timepiece. However, with its icy coating of white diamonds, the Excalibur 42 Automatic Jewellery model not only represents high-end watchmaking, it also captures the extravagant spirit synonymous with Roger Dubuis timepieces.
